Construction Project Update

Work began on April 1st to restore the northwest parapet wall of the Main Library on Second Street.

These tall parapets were shored up many years ago and that solution has led to rust jacking (pack rust pushing stones out of place). With the help of engineers Ryan Biggs Clark Davis, we have prepared plans to rebuild a trial section of the parapet in today’s best practices. This work is being done by AJS Masonry and will take approximately three months to complete.

Fencing has been installed on the street in front of the building to provide space for equipment and materials. Parking is temporarily unavailable in front of the building. The work is part of a New York State public library construction grant received last year.

Reminders:

  • Use of the main entrance and the side access ramp will not be interrupted.
  • Curbside service at will be suspended during construction.

Thank you for your understanding.
