Hello! Welcome to Steve Elliott Photography.

I consider myself to be a multi-disciplined photographer, which pretty much means that I love photographing almost anything!

However, the three areas that I concentrate on are Food, Product and Portraiture Photography.

Food and Product photography can almost go hand in hand. Both depend on an image that sells a product. In today’s world, especially, good images create the very first impression to a prospective customer.

Before going to restaurants, people will check the menu on-line. The adage “We eat with our eyes first” is so very true. That scrumptious, mouthwatering burrito has to look as good online as it does when it is set in front of your hungry guest! A lot goes into this. Every element has to be just so, in the right place and properly lit. The food has to be carefully constructed, showing off all ingredients of the item. In the end, simply put, it has to cause the reaction “I just have to eat this”!

Product photography is not much different. The product is the hero, center stage. Everything else is the supporting cast. The props that are used need to minimal and not take over the scene. In todays
e-commerce market most products are shot on pure white backgrounds. I can certainly do that as well as get very creative. It’s up to you!

Portrait photography is so multi-faceted. Anything from family portraits, engagement photos, newborns, maternity, even pet photos! It’s about memories, about capturing special moments with loved ones that are cherished forever. I love being a part of that, of being able to help make it happen!

There is another side to portrait photography which involves headshots and personal branding.

Personal branding plays an increasingly important role in our lives. In today’s fast-paced and over-saturated work landscape, having a personal brand can help you distinguish yourself from others. It connects you with people you want to work with and move you forward in ways that support your professional goals and development.

I am based in Nanaimo, BC Canada. I have a full studio and can also provide prints in-house. I would love the opportunity to work with you.

Let’s get creative together!
