Clinical Psychologists in Malvern and Prahran

Healing Through Relating

In any therapy “What went wrong, must go right,” said David Malan, a wonderful human and master therapist. What he meant was that it is within the therapeutic relationship that transformative change can happen. To improve your mental health means to improve your relationships to your self, others and the world. This transformation needs to begin in the therapy room, and this is what Psychology Care will provide you. We will meet your mental health needs in a psychologically safe and supportive environment, with the overarching aim of promoting personal transformative change. Come and talk to one of our clinical psychologists in Malvern or Prahran and begin your own personal journey to healing.

Normalisation of Mental Health

Suffering is a part of life. We all suffer at some point in our lives. This does not mean we are unwell, it may in fact mean you are healthy and the response you are having is rational, logical and even predictable given your experience. In others words you are reacting normally to an abnormal situation. Here at PsychologyCare, we do not medicalise your misery but rather we are here to understand you and help you also understand and bring compassion to you and your suffering. It is through deep understanding of why we react the way we react that we can bring compassion to ourselves and use this as a springboard for change. PsychologyCare is here to help you in your suffering and assist you to heal.

Clinical Psychologists in Malvern & Prahran, Melbourne

When I started this practice over a decade ago, it was just me, and since then I have been fortunate to work at one of the top Universities in Australia, whose Psychology Program is ranked as one of the best in the world. I have been privileged to supervise, mentor and lecture many wonderful students over the years, and consequently am lucky enough that many of them, who are now seasoned Psychologists, have decided to come and work at PsychologyCare. Many of the psychologists here never applied for a job, they have been known by me for many years and they were asked to come and join the team, because I witnessed firsthand their skills both clinically and personally over time. Consequently, PsychologyCare has one of the strongest community of psychologists on offer in Melbourne

Not sure which Practitioner is best for you?

Our intake process is designed to make sure our clients are matched with the right psychologist who suits their specific needs. Our Practice Manager, Anna, possesses extensive knowledge about our therapists’ strengths and preferred therapeutic approaches. We understand that seeking help requires courage, so we strive to make the process as seamless as possible for you.

We suggest scheduling an Intake appointment with Anna, our Practice Manager. This 15-minute session will help us get to know you better and understand the reasons for seeking support. Subsequently, we will provide you with availability options for the most appropriate therapist for your needs.

Our Philosophy

shape
shape

The philosophy of PsychologyCare is that change is the business of psychological therapy and the merchandise of healing inherent in that process is the therapeutic relationship. PsychologyCare is about meeting someone face-to-face and working collaboratively to understand the underlying cause behind their distress whether that is depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues. We view expressions of distress as often rational, logical, understandable and sometimes useful responses to an event or events in an individual’s life. Over time these responses can become unhelpful leading to mental health concerns. It is through the therapeutic process we can create awareness and evoke lasting change.
