March 12, 2024 (New Stanton) – The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County lifted its Voluntary Conservation notice on 56,000 customers Tuesday, and the customers of four consecutive systems served by the waters of Beaver Run Reservoir. Beginning on April 22, 2024, and continuing through November 2024, the MMA’s finished water supplier will provide MMA customers with drinking water disinfected with chloramines instead of chlorine. This change benefits our customers by reducing the levels of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in the system, while still providing protection from waterborne disease. Effective January 1, 2024, there will be a rate increase reflected in the monthly water and wastewater bill. This is due to a rate increase being passed to Monroeville Municipal Authority (MMA) customers from the wastewater treatment provider ALCOSAN. There are several components that make up your water and wastewater bill. The increase will occur in the portion that includes the ALCOSAN wastewater treatment charge and ALCOSAN customer service charge. The portion of the bill controlled by the MMA will remain unchanged.
