    In 2024, the MMA is required by Federal and State regulations to routinely sample for 30 Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in its finished drinking water.
  • MAWC Lifts Voluntary Conservation for Customers Served by Beaver Run

    March 12, 2024 (New Stanton) – The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County lifted its Voluntary Conservation notice on 56,000 customers Tuesday, and the customers of four consecutive systems served by the waters of Beaver Run Reservoir. MAWC would like to thank its 56,000 affected customers for their effort conserving water, and four other systems that are supplied with water from Beaver Run for their conservation efforts as well.   • Chloramine Disinfection April 22nd through Nov 2024

    Beginning on April 22, 2024, and continuing through November 2024, the MMA’s finished water supplier will provide MMA customers with drinking water disinfected with chloramines instead of chlorine. This change benefits our customers by reducing the levels of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in the system, while still providing protection from waterborne disease. In November 2024, the drinking water disinfection process will transition back to using chlorine. see attachment for more information

    The Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist position supports the ongoing GIS daily management needs of the Authority. This position builds and maintains the Authority GIS databases and uses GIS software to analyze the spatial and non-spatial data within them.     Effective January 1, 2024, there will be a rate increase reflected in the monthly water and wastewater bill. This is due to a rate increase being passed to Monroeville Municipal Authority (MMA) customers from the wastewater treatment provider ALCOSAN. There are several components that make up your water and wastewater bill. About Your Water

The Monroeville Municipal Authority purchases finished drinking water from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County (MAWC). The finished water that is provided by MAWC is obtained from both the Beaver Run Reservoir and Youghiogheny River.
