#1 Stairlift Contractor in Louisville

As you get older simple tasks that you've done all your life, like walking up the stairs, become difficult. If you have trouble getting around your house, you might start to feel that you’re losing your independence. It’s around this time that people consider selling the home they love or they begin to think about moving into a nursing home.

Choosing to invest in a stairlift can help you preserve your freedom and save some money in the process. If you have an elderly parent that's struggling with mobility, a stairlift will allow them to stay in the home they love, for a fraction of the cost of buying a new home or moving into a nursing home.

However, not all stair lifts the same. There is a lot to consider before settling on the best mobility solution for an elderly person. Let's go over everything you need to know about stairlifts so you can make the best decision.

At Louisville Stairlift Solutions we offer the following products’ installation:

  • Medallion - Straight Stair Lift
  • Nautilus - Straight Stair Lift
  • Outdoor Stairlift
  • Curved Stairlift
  • Vertical Platform Lift

What Sets Louisville Stair Lifts Apart?

There are two main things that set all stairlifts apart – the warranty and the drive mechanism.

The Warranty

When doing your research, you should find out what kind of warranty the manufacturer provides - this is indicative of if they stand by their product or not. Most companies offer a limited lifetime warranty – this is limited in their favor, not yours. The goal for them is to get you on future service calls. In the market today most people will charge in the range of $115-165 for the first hour and then $80-$130 for any hour thereafter. We can diagnose and resolve most problems on the phone, free of charge – all we need is for you to be our eyes, ears, and hands. The most common call we get is, “The stairlift beeps when it’s at the top or bottom.” This beeping tells us that the battery is beginning to fail and will need to be replaced soon – if your stairlift beeps for any reason, call us, we diagnose and resolve 95% of problems on the phone free of charge to our customers.

We also stand by our product so much that we offer an industry leading Lifetime Warranty on our grease-free worm drive stairlifts.

The Drive Mechanism

The drive mechanism is what moves the stairlift up and down the stairs. There are 3 main drive mechanisms:

Winch Drive: The winch drive was the drive mechanism used in the first stairlift built in America in 1924. A winch is a mechanical device that is used to wind up or wind out the wire cable around a drum – they’re reliable, dependable, and hideously ugly. We do not recommend these for your main staircase.

Rack & Pinion: Every manufacturer on the market carries a Rack & Pinion. The Rack & Pinion is similar to a bicycle chain system. There is a fixed, metal, grooved track that a circular gear rolls up and down on. The downside to this drive mechanism is the grease that it requires and the dust, pet hair, and all other household dirt that can get in the drive mechanism.

Grease Free Worm Drive: The most reliable and dependable drive mechanism on the market. Designed to be able to make 100 trips a day the Worm Drive utilizes a Helical Polymer Worm Gear that rotates along the track to raise and lower the lift.

Maintenance free, grease free - the only thing you need to clean it, if you choose to clean it, is a feather duster. We offer a Lifetime Warranty on our two Grease Free Worm Drive lifts: The Medallion and The Nautilus.

Why You May Need A Stairlift

A stair lift ensures that a trip upstairs doesn’t result in pain, and a trip downstairs doesn't result in a fall.

1

Maintaining balance

If walking has become difficult for you, tackling the stairs in your home increases your risk of a fall - and stairs are the most dangerous place in any home. If you're not careful, you can easily receive a broken bone or another serious injury. Think of a stairlift as a peace of mind solution to your stairs.

2

Help with health conditions

Stair lifts relieve symptoms of a variety of health conditions in ways that many people don’t realize. For example, it can help you avoid the pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. These joints get inflamed when strain is placed upon them from walking up and down the stairs.
