Each year, journalists across BC are invited to enter their best work in a variety of categories with the goal of being the winner of the coveted Webster Award — the hallmark of journalistic excellence in British Columbia.

The Shelley Fralic Award

The Shelley Fralic Award honours a B.C. journalist who identifies as a woman, and who exemplifies Shelley’s legacy of concern for excellence in journalism and making her community a better place. 

Bill Good Award

The Bill Good Award was announced in 2014 to honour Bill Good on his retirement from 50 years as a broadcast journalist at CTV, CKNW, BCTV (now Global BC) and CBC. 

Bruce Hutchinson Lifetime Award

The Jack Webster Foundation’s Bruce Hutchison Lifetime Achievement Award honours an exemplary BC journalism career.

Lieutenant Governor’s B.C. Journalism Fellowship

The Lieutenant Governor’s B.C. Journalism Fellowship will provide funding to journalists so they can invest the time and other resources in producing excellent in-depth coverage of important topics.

The Foundation is pleased to offer financial support through our Student Awards, and professional development opportunities through our Masterclasses.

For Journalism Professionals

You could be eligible to receive a Professional Development Grant in order to take a course(s) to further your journalism career or receive funding to embark upon a self-defined project/area of study.
