As an experienced and highly trained therapist, I offer specialized services in individual therapy and couples therapy from my office in Durham, NC. With over 20 years of experience, I have provided a wide range of therapy services for individuals and couples in the Triangle area, including Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Hillsborough, and Cary, in a private and warm setting.

I also offer teletherapy services, extending my reach to individuals and couples across North Carolina, including Charlotte, Davidson, and Asheville.

I enjoy helping women and men of all ages to develop new insights, make changes in their lives, and find happiness. I am experienced in working with clients to increase self-awareness, make good decisions, manage grief and suffering, respond to hardship, and create more fulfilling lives and relationships.

Holistic and Integrative Approach to Therapy

I utilize a holistic and integrative approach to therapy, which combines different therapeutic methods and techniques to address the unique needs of each client. This approach allows me to provide comprehensive and tailored help that promotes overall well-being and positive changes.

I believe in the power of a therapeutic relationship, where we make space to work out difficult feelings, figure out how to manage life transitions and relationship challenges, or achieve a more purposeful life.

I encourage my clients to be open to a dialogue with me in which we discover insights they may not have had about themselves. With compassion and humor, we make our way in a relationship of honesty and trust as we identify changes – small and large – which might help them live more happily and successfully.

Sometimes this means uncovering unconscious motivations; sometimes we identify how thoughts and behavior affect their feelings.

Some key elements of my holistic and integrative approach include:

  • Establishing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters open communication and self-exploration
  • Incorporating various therapeutic modalities tailored to each client's specific needs and goals
  • Building a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust, empathy, and mutual respect
  • Encouraging self-reflection, personal growth, and the development of effective coping strategies

Therapeutic Approaches

In my practice, I employ a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide the most effective and personalized treatment for each person or relationship. Some of the therapeutic approaches I use include:

  • Psychodynamic therapy: A depth-oriented approach that explores unconscious processes and how they influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): A goal-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors.
  • Mindfulness-based techniques: Practices that cultivate awareness, acceptance, and self-compassion to improve mental well-being.
  • Narrative Therapy: A re-storying model that helps indiv iduals separate from their problems and rewrite negative narratives into more positive ones to promote well-being.
  • Marriage Therapy & Couples Counseling: A therapeutic process that helps couples improve their relationship by addressing the underlying issues that are negatively impacting their relationship, with the goal of helping them improve communication, build trust, and increase intimacy through various techniques and strategies.
