Welcome to BARKS

Boise Area Radio Kontrol Society “B.A.R.K.S” is a non-profit radio control “RC” model airplane club that is open to the public. Helicopters and multi-rotors are also flown and welcome at BARKS. The general public is welcome to visit the flying field when a BARKS member is flying the gate will be open.   Our mailing address is BARKS, P.O. BOX 8685, Boise ID 83707

The Flying Field

BARKS maintains a 40-acre flying field that is located off Kuna Mora Rd, southeast of Boise. Amenities included are; a 500 x 48 foot runway, covered pits with work-benches for tinkering and setup, work-benches for starting and tuning your glow powered aircrafts, a covered spectator area, and an on-site weather station for accurate, up-to-date weather information.

Events

Regular events at BARKS include the SeptemberFest picnic, community fly days, a spring swap meet and a phenomenal Christmas Party. Additionally we also host several small "Fun-Flys". A Fun-Fly is an informal flying event scheduled on several occasions in the spring and summer. The purpose of a Fun-Fly is to generate excitement, camaraderie, and well, HAVE FUN! Typical events include a bomb drop, quick take off and landings, and timed gliding contests. The Public is always welcome and encouraged to attend any and all BARKS Events!

General Directions to BARKS are:

  • Traveling East on I84 take Exit #64 (Blacks Creek Exit) turning right onto Kuna Mora Road.

  • Travel south on Kuna Mora road for approximately 3.5 miles.
  • After crossing the railroad tracks, You will know you are close when you see a couple houses on the right.
  • You will see a blue sign labeled BARKS on the right side of the road just before a dirt road intersects Kuna Mora Road.
  • Turn left onto the dirt road. The windsock and sun shelter are visible from Kuna Mora Road.
  • The field is located about 1/2 mile at the end of the dirt road.
