NUS Computing has unveiled a new Computing Gallery, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, which documents the nation’s computing education journey at Singapore’s flagship university, among other aspects of Information Technology. The 120-sqm NUS Computing Gallery was officially launched by Dr Maliki Osman, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, and Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs.

Researchers from NUS, together with industry partners Soitec and NXP Semiconductors, have demonstrated a new class of silicon systems that promises to enhance the energy efficiency of AI connected devices by leaps and bounds. These technological breakthroughs will significantly advance the capabilities of the semiconductor industry in Singapore and beyond.

From insect-pinning and nature-journalling, to four-day fieldtrips and open-concept final projects, Dr Yuchen Ang’s course, “Biodiversity and Natural History in Singapore”, is designed to encourage students to move out of their comfort zones and engage experientially in learning about Singapore’s rich natural heritage.

For over three decades, well-intended inter-governmental and private governance systems have unleashed numerous policy innovations designed to ameliorate climate and biodiversity governance. Prof Benjamin William Cashore, Li Ka Shing Professor in Public Management and Director, Institute for Environment and Sustainability from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS deliberates whether Singapore’s climate policy efforts to buck historical trends elsewhere will be both durable and effective.
Singapore is among 39 countries worldwide that have banned vapes and since its implementation in 2018, there has been debate about the effectiveness of Singapore’s ban on vapes, and if more must be done to deter youths from vaping. Assoc Prof Ho Han Kiat, from the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Science at NUS; and Dean of Students, discusses toxicological insights that can address a few pertinent questions.
